In short
The short version: the content you type, paste or open in our tools never leaves your browser, because there is nowhere for it to go. We collect only aggregate usage statistics and whatever our advertising partners set, and you can opt out of the latter.
1. Who we are
SmartDigitalTips ("we", "us", "our") operates this website, which provides free browser-based tools and related educational content. This policy explains what information we handle when you visit, and what we deliberately do not handle.
If you have any question about this policy, or want to exercise any right described in it, contact us at hello@smartdigitaltips.com.
2. The content you enter into our tools
This is the most important section of this policy, so we have put it first.
The text you type, the files you open, the images you resize and the documents you merge are processed entirely within your own web browser using standard web technologies. That content is never transmitted to us, never stored on our servers, and never visible to us or to anybody else. We could not retrieve it if we wanted to, and we could not be compelled to produce it, because it never existed in our systems.
You do not have to take our word for this. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use any tool on this site — you will see no request carrying your content. Alternatively, disconnect from the internet once a tool page has loaded; local tools carry on working, which would be impossible if they depended on a server.
3. Information we do collect
We collect a limited amount of technical and aggregate information, which we use to keep the site working and to decide what to build next.
- Standard server logs, including IP address, browser type, referring page and timestamp, retained briefly for security and diagnostics.
- Aggregate analytics about which pages and tools are visited, which we use to prioritise improvements. This is not linked to an identifiable individual.
- Any information you voluntarily send us — for example, your name, email address and message if you contact us about a bug or suggestion.
4. What we never collect
For the avoidance of doubt, we do not collect any of the following:
- The content of anything you type, paste or open in a tool.
- Files, images or documents you process — these never leave your device.
- Typing test results, passwords generated, or any other tool output.
- Account credentials, because there are no accounts.
- Payment details, because nothing on this site is paid for.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and equivalent browser storage mechanisms. Essential ones remember your light or dark theme preference. Analytics cookies help us count visits in aggregate. Advertising cookies may be set by our advertising partners to make the adverts you see more relevant.
You can control or block cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies does not affect any tool on this site — every tool works identically without them.
Our Cookie Policy sets out each category in more detail.
6. Advertising
This site is supported by display advertising. Our advertising partners, which may include Google AdSense, may use cookies and device identifiers to serve adverts based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve adverts to you based on your visits to our site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of a third party's use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
We do not share any information with advertisers ourselves, because we do not have any to share.
7. Third-party links
Our articles and tool pages sometimes link to external websites. We have no control over the content or privacy practices of those sites, and this policy does not apply to them. We recommend reading the privacy policy of any site you visit from here.
8. Children's privacy
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through our contact form, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information under laws such as the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act. These typically include the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your information, and to object to processing.
In practice, the only personal information we hold about most visitors is short-lived server log data. If you have contacted us, we hold your message and contact details. To exercise any right, email us at hello@smartdigitaltips.com and we will respond within one month.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the site or to legal requirements. The date at the top of this page always shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on the site itself rather than made quietly.
This document is written in plain English for a website that processes everything in your browser. It is provided in good faith and is not legal advice. If you are adapting it for your own site, have it reviewed by a qualified adviser first.
