An on-screen QWERTY keyboard that lights up as you type, with colour-coded finger zones showing which finger belongs on each key. The fastest way to break the habit of looking down at your hands.
Getting started
Place your index fingers on the F and J keys — most keyboards have a raised bump on each to find by touch alone.
Type anything you like. Each key lights up on the on-screen keyboard as you press it.
Turn on finger hints to colour every key by the finger that should press it.
Practise the highlighted target key until reaching it no longer requires looking down.
Work outwards from the home row: home row first, then top row, then bottom row, then numbers.
Why it helps
Seeing the key highlighted on screen removes the reflex to glance at your hands, which is what caps most people's speed.
Colour-coded finger zones teach correct assignment from the start, avoiding habits that are painful to unlearn later.
Modifier keys and the space bar are shown too, so shortcuts and capitalisation get practised alongside letters.
Works with any physical keyboard — the on-screen layout is a guide, not a requirement.
